NOVA Integration Solutions is an expert in customising enclosures to include the design and manufacture of “Mission Critical” ATR Chassis, Backplanes, Convection Cooled Enclosures and Electronic enclosures. They are ideally used in military shelters, ground mobile vehicles (LRUs) and on aircraft (ATRs) to include servers on maritime ships.

These systems must operate in harsh environments, they require a robust cooling system and often need a custom power supply. The use of innovative light-weight materials are also a consideration. They incorporate a wide variety of computing platforms to include VME/VME64x, cPCI, VPX, VXSI and VPX passive backplane configurations.

ATR Chassis

Class 3000 - Convection Cooled ATRs

The Nova Integration Solutions (NIS) Class 3000 contains a portfolio of convection cooled ATR reference designs conforming to standard ARINC 404A sizes (1/4 Short to 1 ½ Long) while also being fully scalable and capable of housing all Eurocard board types, form factors and slot counts.  Proven aggressive cooling methods are used with these series of ATR’s with forced air blowing from front to rear air channels.  Features include

  • Machined aerospace grade aluminium alloy housing which provides superior strength and rigidity while also ensuring MIL-STD-461 compliance for EMI/EMC.
  • Can accommodate up to an 18-slot cPCI, VME, or VPX backplane
  • Fully compliant with IEEE 1101.1 and 1101.10
  • Accepts 3U or 6U convection-cooled plug-in boards on 0.8”, 0.85” or 1.0” pitch.
  • Power supply options include fixed or plug in style power supplies with outputs up to 2kW.
  • Input power options include single or three phase VAC inputs including 100-264 VAC @ 47-63 Hz; 115 VAC @ 400 Hz; and nominal VDC inputs from 12VDC up to 270VDC.

 

ATR-Class-3100

Class 3100 - Convection Cooled ATRs

The Nova Integration Solutions (NIS) Class 3100 contains a portfolio of sealed, conduction cooled ATR reference designs conforming to standard ARINC 404A sizes (1/4 Short to 1 ½ Long) while also being fully scalable and capable of housing all Eurocard board types, form factors and slot counts. NIS engineering specialises in advanced thermal management and packaging techniques and considers the most efficient cooling method based on the environment and program specifications and will add Heat sink, Heat Piping or other advanced materials if necessary.

  • Machined aerospace grade aluminium alloy housing which provides superior strength and rigidity while also ensuring MIL-STD-461 compliance for EMI/EMC.
  • Can accommodate up to an 18-slot cPCI, VME, or VPX backplane
  • Fully compliant with IEEE 1101.2
  • The internal subrack is fully machined and ready to accept various types of wedgelocks for 3U or 6U convection-cooled plug-in boards on 0.8”, 0.85” or 1.0” pitch.
  • Power supply options include fixed or plug in style power supplies with outputs up to 2kW.
  • Input power options include single or three phase VAC inputs including 100-264 VAC @ 47-63 Hz; 115 VAC @ 400 Hz; and nominal VDC inputs from 12VDC up to 270VDC.
  • I/O Connector options include D38999 Series-III, MIL-STD-26482 and other circular types commonly found in military electronic systems
ATR-Class-3200

Class 3200 - Hybrid Cooled ATRs

The Nova Integration Solutions (NIS) Class 3200 contains a portfolio of “hybrid cooled” enclosures defined air cooling over a sealed, conduction cooled chassis. The Class 3200 ATR reference designs conform to standard ARINC 404A sizes (1/4 Short to 1 ½ Long) while also being fully scalable and capable of housing all Eurocard board types, form factors and slot counts.

NIS engineering specialises in advanced thermal management and packaging techniques and considers the most efficient cooling method based on the environment and program specifications and will add Heat sink, Heat Piping or other advanced materials if necessary. The Class 3200 offers the most aggressive cooling options of any ATR product line.

Shock Trays for ATR's

Shock trays of all types are designed and manufactured by NIS. They are required to meet shock and isolation requirements for ground mobile vehicles, naval vessels, military shelters and on aircraft.  The shock trays may use heavy materials (aluminium) with shock isolators insulating the enclosure from harm due to shock conditions.  Alternatively, other materials used include carbon fibre or hybrid components to provide a lighter weight solution to meet space and loading restraints.

Nova Integrated Solutions (NIS) has a variety of bus-based high slot-count backplane configurations ranging from PICMG PC-based passive backplanes to any VITA compliant VITA 64x platform to include cPCI, VME, VME64, VXS and VPX.  Other features include:

  • Standard low-noise industrial and MIL-grade backplanes
  • Custom configurations are available for maintaining signal integrity, high performance or the need to operate in extreme conditions

Conduction Cooled Enclosures  

Class 4100 - Mil-Spec Chassis

The Nova Integration Solutions (NIS) Class 4100 contains a portfolio of convection cooled Military tested chassis which are available in 1U through to 12U heights and support various passive backplane types, PICMG, motherboards or single board computers.  Other features include

  • Superior structural strength with virtually no torsional flex
  • Aggressive or controllable airflow
  • Supports popular backplane types such as VME, VME64, VXS, OpenVPX, CompactPCI, PCIe, PXI, active motherboards in ATX or Server form factors
  • Optional NIS’s System Health Monitor (SEM) which monitors and controls key chassis parameters to ensure optimal operating conditions is maintained via communication ports.

Class 4400 - Industrial Grade Chassis

Nova Integration Solutions (NIS) Class 4400 Industrial Grade Chassis contains a full portfolio of rack mountable and convection cooled designs from 1U in height to 12U and supports popular backplane types s including 3U and 6U form factors of VME, VME64x, VXS, OpenVPX, CompactPCI, or VPX as well as PICMG passive backplanes or commercial style motherboards such as ATX.  Other features include

  • Field replaceable fan trays with an MTTR of less than 2 minutes
  • Optional System Environmental Monitor and peripherals such as hard drives or I/O panels
  • Modular Power Supplies are also available and range from 450W to 1kW

Class 4500 - Developmental Chassis

The Nova Integration Solutions (NIS) Class 4500 Development Chassis contains a portfolio of table top, lab grade convection cooled designs available in half and full width models for use with 3U and 6U boards.

These chassis accommodate popular backplane types including 3U and 6U form factors of CompactPCI (PCI), VME, VME64x, VXS, OpenVPX, VPX or custom and support 80mm RTM modules.  Other features include

  • Instrumentation style enclosures using one to two PICMG 2.11 hot/swap/redundant/N+1 plug in power supplies with AC or DC input or optional hard mounted PSU’s or external power
  • All models cooled via removable fan tray with cleanable air filter
  • Option – replace card guides by machined panels to allow air flow through plug in boards
  • Optional NIS’s System Health Monitor (SEM) which monitors and controls key chassis parameters to ensure optimal operating conditions is maintained via communication ports.

Class 4600 – Flush Front Crate

The Nova Integration Solutions (NIS) Class 4600 Flush Front Crates feature a full portfolio of rackmountable and convection cooled designs from 1U in height to 12U. These chassis reference designs accommodate popular backplane types including 3U and 6U form factors of CompactPCI (cPCI), VME, VME64x, VXS, OpenVPX, or VPX.

These enclosures can even support multiple systems by using split or discrete backplanes with a common or dedicated power supply to each “segment.”  Other features include:

  • Front & Rear Subracks comply with IEEE 1101.1/.10 and /.11, the latter configurable for 3U or 6U x 80mm modules.
  • Subrack support for legacy VME boards (IEEE 1101.1) is available.
  • Power system options include AC or DC input; internally mounted or PICMG 2.11 plug-in styles; single, dual, triple or quad outputs up to 2kW.
  • Optional NIS’s System Health Monitor (SEM) which monitors and controls key chassis parameters to ensure optimal operating conditions is maintained via communication ports.

Class 4700 – Recessed Front Crate

The Nova Integration Solutions (NIS) Class 4700 Flush Front Crates feature a full portfolio of rackmountable and convection cooled designs from 1U in height to 12U and they accommodate popular backplane types including 3U and 6U form factors of CompactPCI (cPCI), VME, VME64x, VXS, OpenVPX, or VPX.

These enclosures can even support multiple systems by using split or discrete backplanes with a common or dedicated power supply to each “segment.”

  • The recessed front subrack provides ease of access to front panel I/O while leaving room for challenging cable routing.
  • Front & Rear Subracks comply with IEEE 1101.1/.10 and /.11, the latter configurable for 3U or 6U x 80mm modules.
  • Subrack support for legacy VME boards (IEEE 1101.1) is available.

System Environmental Monitor (SEM)  

The System Environmental Monitor (SEM) is a stand-alone small-form-factor, network based PCB module utilised to monitor and control the enclosure’s operating environment. It can be installed anywhere in your enclosure with sensors strategically placed in support of your application.  It supports HTTP and SNMP Protocols and communication is accomplished through its on-board fast Ethernet port with a setup utility to configure your system and change operating parameters.

The SEM can monitor internal temperatures, input and output voltages, fan speeds and a variety of customer-defined I/O. When operating parameters are exceeded, the SEM can reset or powered down the system, sound an audio alarm, and change fan speeds (increase, decrease or turned off). The SEM can also be configured to take other user-definable corrective actions.
